GLYPHICS CREATE A TACTILE AND INTERACTIVE FASHION TRENDS BOOK FOR GOK!

The challenge was to give Di Cram - who started losing her sight at the age of 17 - a personal style guide that she could refer to when out shopping for new clothes. So Tim Heppell and Brian Heppell from Glyphics joined Gok Wan and Jane Malpin from production house Maverick TV in brainstorming sessions, leading to an open design brief to create "Di's Guide to Glamour". It was a concept that started at six pages but that grew to 20, despite the very tight schedule.

Textured fabric swatches and accessories - from tweeds and silks to beads - were added for individual fashion themes and seasons, to give Di a mental image of what sums up nautical, weekender, town & country and military looks. We came up with an unusual solution to put colour palettes at Di's fingertips by using sandpaper swatches: a soft flour paper represents pale colours graduating to coarser papers for deeper shades. And because the book's loose-leaf, pages can be changed as trends do.

Glyphics completed the whole project - from first discussion through design, production and delivery - in just four days in time for filming and to the obvious delight of Di, as you can see by catching the programme replay here.

It's the second time in a year that Glyphics have been invited to work with Gok Wan. Last summer, he and his production crew used our London design studio as the back-drop for parts of each episode of Gok's Fashion Fix - as you can see here.
