DIGITAL WALLPAPER CELEBRATES DOCKSIDE HERITAGE
There used to be real cranes outside. Now their dramatic graphic shapes can be found inside eighteen Canary Wharf apartment buildings in a project designed, printed and installed by Glyphics.
Glyphics were invited to transform the reception areas of the blocks with a feature wall plus create new directional signage for every floor, as part of a refurbishment programme project-managed by Sykes & Son.
The Glyphics team took their inspiration from the giant cranes that were once a London Docks' landmark. They created a unique design in black on a range of vivid coloured backgrounds. The client chose the red option and this powerful image was then applied to digital wallpaper manufactured at the Glyphics' studio and then installed on site.
The dockside theme runs through the design solution for the signage too. Each of the hundreds of signs across the eighteen properties includes close-up details of crane machinery, wall-mounted in a simple and contemporary 5mm clear acrylic with polished edges using satin-finish fittings.
