Dress To Impress

Whether you’re looking to revitalise a retail frontage, create a compelling office facade or turn a feature pane into a focal point, glazing is prime real estate for signage - offering a glimpse in while broadcasting a message out to the street.

From building three-dimensional showcases behind windows to transforming the glass itself with customised graphics, there are countless ways to create interest from your own kerbside. We love developing bespoke displays, and we're always tinkering with our own shopfront too - you can see some of those experiments in our mini blog series here.

With that said, in our experience at the sill, three types of signage are particularly well suited to creating beautiful, on-brand window displays. Vinyl dressing transforms plain glazing into merchandising and marketing showcases with ease, hand painted signs bring an irresistibly authentic charm, and neon art commands attention with light, colour and energy.

Whether you're planning a one-off street-facing installation, a seasonal campaign or a complete frontage takeover, contact us and we'll help turn your glazing into something worth stopping for.

Window Displays FAQS

How long do decorative window graphics last?

It depends on the material, location and exposure to weather and sunlight. Some displays are designed for short term campaigns, while others can remain in place for several years. We’ll recommend the right material for the intended lifespan.

Can window graphics be applied to the inside of the glass?

Yes. Where the glazing and design allow, graphics can be installed internally and viewed through the glass, helping protect the finish from weather and general wear.

Are decorative window displays suitable for temporary campaigns?

Yes. Window graphics are ideal for seasonal promotions, launches, events and temporary campaigns. Removable materials can be specified where the display needs to come down cleanly afterwards.

Will window vinyl damage the glass?

Usually not. The correct vinyl can generally be removed from suitable glazing without damaging the glass, although existing coatings and the condition of the glazing should always be considered.

Can you help with the design as well as production and installation?

Yes. You can provide finished artwork, work with your own designer or ask us to develop the display with you. We can advise on scale, materials, visibility, positioning and production before installation, so please do get in touch.

What is the difference between a decorative window display and glass manifestation?

Decorative window displays are typically created for outward-facing picture windows, retail frontages and other prominent exterior glazing, where the aim is to attract attention, communicate a message or create a branded feature.

Glass manifestation is first and foremost a safety treatment, making large areas of glazing clearly visible and helping prevent accidental collisions. It is most commonly used on internal glazed walls, partitions and doors, although it can also be applied to exterior glass. Manifestation can also incorporate privacy, branding and decorative elements. For these applications, see our Glass Manifestation service.
